Baranwal (also spelled Barnwal, Burnwal, Varnwal, Warnwal or Barnawal) is a community of India that claims Suryavanshi descent.[1][2][3]

Legend[edit]

The Baranwal community claim to be descended from King Ahibaran, a Suryavanshi Kshatriya, who is assumed to be the great-grandson of the legendary king Agrasen.[4][5][6][7] At present, they mostly reside in the regions of Etawah, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur and Ghazipur.[6][8][9]
