Autonomous State Medical College, Basti[1] (ASMC, Basti) is a government autonomous state medical college in Basti, Uttar Pradesh, India.

In 2019,[2] the college received approval for admission to the MBBS course.

ASMC Basti

The college imparts the degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).[3] The college is affiliated with King George's Medical University and is recognized by the National Medical Commission.[4] Selection to the college is made based on merit through the National Eligibility and Entrance Test. The undergraduate student intake was 100 students in 2019. This college is also known as Maharshi Vashishtha Autonomous State Medical College, Basti (MVASMC Basti).[5]

Location[edit]

Basti is 202 km (126 mi) east of state capital Lucknow and Basti Railway station lies on the mainline connecting Lucknow with Gorakhpur and places of Bihar & Assam.

NH 28 also passes through Basti. Basti is situated between Ayodhya and Gorakhpur.

Autonomous State Medical College (ASMC, Basti) is situated in Rampur, Basti, UP.

Courses[edit]

This college offers degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS).

Nursing and para-medical courses are also offered.

And going to start DNB[6] Courses[7] in following:

Radiology, Anesthesia, Pediatrics & OB/GYN (obstetrics and gynecologist)

DNB is a post-graduate master's degree for Specialist Doctors. DNB is equivalent to MD/MS.

ASMC Basti is spread over 17 acres (7 acre for the main building, academic building, official building, girls' and boys' hostel and 10 acre for JR and SR hostel, nurse hostel, residential quarters from type 3–6, an auditorium and many more things).

The affiliated hospital and OPD (OPEC Hospital) is about 4km away from the college

ASMC Basti Hospital

ASMC, Basti is associated with OPEC Hospital, Kaili (also called mini PGI)[10] - its teaching hospital. It is a fully functional 500 bedded hospital having central laboratory services, CT scan, X-ray, ICU, ICCU, PICU, OTs, 24 hours Emergency services and full strength of specialist staff is available in the hospital. OPEC Hospital is spread over 37 acres of land. This hospital has heavy patients load of Basti City.

Another OPD for ASMC, Basti, is under construction.
