MeMeraki is an Indian culture-technology company founded in 2019.[1][2] It is headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, India.[3][4]
History[edit | edit source]
MeMeraki was founded in 2019 by Yosha Gupta as a "digital platform" connecting traditional Indian artisans with broader audiences.[5][6]
Prior to founding MeMeraki, Gupta launched a cashback platform "LafaLafa" in 2014. It was mentioned in Gadgets 360's coverage of Indian startup funding activity in 2016.[7][8]
In January 2026, MeMeraki and its team appeared in Shark Tank India season 5 and secured Rs. 1 crore.[9][10] It also received undisclosed institutional funding from "Next Bharat Ventures", the impact investment arm backed by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan.[11]
The company brought together many craft traditions of India including the Kalamkari traditions of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, along with the Mata Ni Pachedi tradition of Gujarat.[12]
Selected Arts & exhibition[edit | edit source]
- In 2026, a Tholu Bommalata installation titled AIRAVAS at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, was referenced in independent design coverage.[13]
- In 2026, MeMeraki curated Ashvahit, a contemporary installation that brought together Indian craft traditions with themes of mythology and self-reflection.[14]
- In 2023, MeMeraki presented a Cheriyal-based installation titled SaTaRa at the India Art, Architecture and Design Biennale.[15]
- Kathaa is an annual wall mural festival organised by MeMeraki in December 2021 in Hong Kong that brings together artists to create large-scale murals inspired by Indian storytelling traditions and folk art forms. The festival has been held in multiple editions and focuses on translating narrative traditions from Indian crafts into contemporary public murals. The initiative has been described as one of India's only craft-inspired wall mural festivals presented internationally.[16]
Community initiatives[edit | edit source]
During the COVID-19 lockdown, MeMeraki organised online workshops in traditional and folk art forms for international audiences. These workshops enabled artists from different regions of India to teach and share their practices with participants globally.[17]
In November 2022, MeMeraki in association with Apollo Cancer Center created an art installation to raise awareness about breast cancer.[18]
