Ram Gopal Kothari is an Indian entrepreneur and endurance runner from Kolkata, West Bengal.[1]
Marathon[edit | edit source]
Kothari completed his first half-marathon at the Tata Mumbai Marathon in 2018. He subsequently participated in the Kolkata Marathon and other half-marathons.[2]
In 2025, Kothari completed the 42.195-kilometre North Pole Marathon at the Geographic North Pole in a time of 8:00:05.[3][4] He was reported as the first Indian to complete a full marathon at the Geographic North Pole.[5] In 2026, Kothari participated in the Volcano Marathon on Easter Island. He completed the 42.195-kilometre race in 5 hours, 5 minutes and 8 seconds and finished seventh overall.[6][7]
He was also reported as the first Indian to complete a marathon on Easter Island.[8] By 2022, Kothari had travelled to all seven continents, including Antarctica.[9] Before the 2026 Volcano Marathon, Kothari trained by running up to 30 kilometres and practising on the ramp at Salt Lake Stadium to prepare for the race terrain.[10]
