Plot[edit | edit source]
Sundarlal is an honest and humble young man who becomes the unopposed candidate for village head. His position is challenged when Lula Singh is released from prison and becomes involved in a scheme to undermine him. Lula Singh is accompanied by his son Jackson and Hoshiyar Singh, an insurance company manager.
Hoshiyar Singh's daughter, Prema, falls in love with Sundarlal. Meanwhile, Jackson becomes antagonistic after Prema rejects him. A dispute involving a buffalo sold to Sundarlal and a rejected insurance claim leads to a legal case. A veterinarian's testimony helps establish the facts surrounding the animal's death.
The dispute ends with the insurance company losing the case and Lula Singh being punished for fraud. Sundarlal is declared the village head, and he and Prema begin a relationship.[4]
