The Meitei Wikipedia (Meitei: ꯃꯩꯇꯩ ꯋꯤꯀꯤꯄꯦꯗꯤꯌꯥ) or Manipuri Wikipedia (Meitei: ꯃꯅꯤꯄꯨꯔꯤ ꯋꯤꯀꯤꯄꯦꯗꯤꯌꯥ) or Meetei Wikipedia (Meitei: ꯃꯤꯇꯩ ꯋꯤꯀꯤꯄꯦꯗꯤꯌꯥ) is the Meitei language edition of Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia.[1] It is the first and the only Indian wikipedia from the Sino-Tibetan language family. Its Incubator form was started in the year 2018 and became a complete Wikipedia in the year 2021. As of January 2022, it has 10021 articles.[2]
Milestones
- Meitei Wikipedia was launched on 22 February 2021, with more than 2000 articles from its former Wikimedia Incubator status.
- Article number 5000 was ꯲꯹꯹꯶ (an article on number 2996), created on 13 September 2021.
- Article number 10,000 was ꯏꯄꯨꯊꯧ ꯊꯥꯡꯆꯤꯡ ꯂꯥꯢꯁꯪ (Ebudhou Thangjing Temple), created on 30 November 2021.
