Merging is the process of combining the content of two or more Bharatpedia pages into a single page, because they cover the same subject, overlap heavily, or one of them is too short to stand alone.

How to propose a merge

  1. Add the {{merge}} template to each page involved, so readers can see the proposal.
  2. Start a discussion on the talk page of the destination page, explaining why the merge is a good idea.
  3. If there is no opposition after a reasonable time, carry out the merge: move the useful content into the destination page, and turn the other page into a redirect to it. Always leave a redirect behind, and mention the source page in your edit summary so the contribution history is respected.

Merging is different from deletion: the title of the merged page stays usable as a redirect, and its content is preserved rather than removed.
