"Leinung Thongalel" (Old Manipuri: ꯂꯩꯅꯨꯡ ꯊꯣꯡꯉꯥꯂꯦꯜ), also spelt as "Khamnung Thongaren" (Meitei: ꯈꯝꯅꯨꯡ ꯊꯣꯡꯉꯥꯔꯦꯟ), is the god of the death and the ruler of the underworld (Khamnung) in Meitei mythology and religion.[1][2][3][4][5][6] He is the consort of Laikhurembi.[7] He is equivalent to Yama of Hindu mythology.[8]
