Kounu
"Kounu" (Meitei: ꯀꯧꯅꯨ ꯂꯥꯢꯔꯦꯝꯕꯤ, Old Manipuri: ꯀꯧꯅꯨ ꯂꯥꯢꯂꯦꯝꯄꯤ) is a primordial goddess in Meitei mythology and religion. Legend says she dwells in the kingdom of the snows of far north. She is worshipped with her consort Koubru,[1] as the deities of the Khullakpa (village chief).[2][3] Kounu and Koubru ruled Ancient Manipur, after the reign of Ningthou Puthiba.[4]
