Thangching (God)

"Thangjing" (Meitei: ꯊꯥꯡꯖꯤꯡ), originally spelt as "Thangching"[1] (Meitei: ꯊꯥꯡꯆꯤꯡ), is a primordial deity in Meitei mythology and religion. He is the Guardian of the South West direction.[2] He is the presiding deity of Ancient Moirang, a province in Ancient Manipur[3], where he rules at supreme on the banks of the Loktak lake.[4][5][6] Two of his greatest pantheons are the Thangching Temple and the Thangching Hill. Legend says that Thangjing made goddess Phouoibi to incarnate in a human birth in Keke Moirang to prosper the human civilization.[7]
