Thangching (God)

"Thangjing" (Meitei: ꯊꯥꯡꯖꯤꯡ), originally spelt as "Thangching" (Meitei: ꯊꯥꯡꯆꯤꯡ), is a primordial deity in Meitei mythology and religion. He is the Guardian of the South West direction. He is the presiding deity of Ancient Moirang, a province in Ancient Manipur, where he rules at supreme on the banks of the Loktak lake. Two of his greatest pantheons are the Thangching Temple and the Thangching Hill. Legend says that Thangjing made goddess Phouoibi to incarnate in a human birth in Keke Moirang to prosper the human civilization.
