Sanamahism (Meitei: ꯁꯅꯥꯃꯍꯤ ꯂꯥꯏꯅꯤꯡ, romanized: Sanamahi Laining, lit. 'Sanamahi religion'), also known as Meitei religion or Ancient Manipuri religion or Kanglei religion, is an indigenous antique ancestor worshipping paganism originated from Ancient Manipur (Ancient Kangleipak).[1][2] It is mainly practised by the Meitei people and the indigenous tribesmen ethic groups of present day Manipur. Being a polytheism, it has more than one thousand gods and goddesses worshipped in various pantheons.[3]
