Uzair Jan Baloch (born 11 January 1970) is a Pakistani gangster and former leader of the Peoples' Aman Committee, an organisation based in Lyari, Karachi, Pakistan. He became the leader of the gang after the death of his cousin, Rehman Dakait.

Criminal activities and arrests[edit | edit source]

Baloch was wanted in several criminal cases, including extortion and targeted killings. In June 2014, the Sindh government issued red notices against him and announced a reward of Rs. 2 million for information leading to his arrest.

On 29 December 2014, he was arrested by Interpol at Dubai International Airport while travelling from Muscat to Dubai. He was later extradited to Pakistan.[2]

On 30 January 2016, the Pakistan Rangers took him into custody in Karachi. In January 2021, a military court sentenced him to 12 years in prison after finding him guilty of espionage for an international intelligence agency.[3]

In popular culture[edit | edit source]

In the Indian films Dhurandhar (2025) and Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026), actor Danish Pandor portrays a character based on Uzair Baloch.[4]

The films renewed public interest in Baloch and the criminal history of Lyari. Several media outlets published reports about his activities following the release of the films.[5]
