Mahakavi Kalidas (transl. The great poet, Kalidas) is a 1966 Indian Tamil language film produced and directed by R. R. Chandran, starring Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role.[2] The film is a remake of the Kannada movie Mahakavi Kalidasa (1955) which was based on the legends of the poet Kālidāsa.[3] This movie ran over 90 days in all theatres in Tamilnadu and became a box office hit.

Music was composed by K. V. Mahadevan while the lyrics were penned by Kannadasan and Ku. Ma. Balasubramaniam. Singer is K. B. Sundarambal and Playback singers are T. M. Soundararajan and P. Susheela. The "Sakunthalai" music drama was not included in the film but was released on gramophone record.[4]
