Infrastructure and Amenities
Indian Railways has completely redeveloped Jhunjhunu station with a beautiful station building and passenger-friendly facilities[5].This railway station forms part of North Western Railway (NWR) zone of Indian Railways and serves the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. Salient features of Jhunjhunu railway station redevelopment project and new passenger-friendly amenities are:
1.Park area of the station has been developed with green patch.
2.Station walls has been painted with yoga art.
3.Station park has been beautified with water fountain.
4.Boundary wall around the station had been reconstructed.
5.Footpath of the park area have been laid with chequered tiles.
6.Circulating area of the station has been renovated.
7.A new monumental Indian national flag beautifies the station.
8.Name board at the station had been changed and replaced with new colourful board.
9.Entire walls portion of the circulating area and station building had been painted and beautified depicting local art and culture.
10.Water supply has been improved at the station for the passengers.
11.Broken kota stones in the platform and station had been replaced and relaid.
12.Broken granite tiles in water booth area had been replaced and remodelled with new tiles.
13.For the convenience of differently-abled passengers,senior citizens,ladies and children a new Divyang-specific toilet had been newly constructed.
14.Painting had been done to foot-over-bridge(FOB),shed and coping wall.
15.Car parking area had been renovated.
16.Parking area increased to accommodate more vehicles.
17.Boundary wall of the parking area had been reconstructed.
According to Indian Railways officials,the total cost of redevelopment and renovation is approximately Rs 41 lakhs or 4.1 million Indian National Rupees(INR)[5].Approximate cost of new passenger-friendly facilities is Rs 10 lakhs,cost of redevelopment of station building is Rs 30 lakhs,and the cost of construction of car parking area is Rs 1 lakh.[5]
