Ester Expósito Gayoso (born 26 January 2000) is a Spanish actress and model, best recognised for her starring role as Carla Rosón Caleruega in the Netflix teen drama series Elite (2018–2021).[1][2][3][4] Her television portfolio additionally includes appearances in Estoy vivo (2017), La caza. Monteperdido (2019), Someone Has to Die (2020), and Bandidos (2024–2025).[5]

Her cinematic work encompasses films such as Your Son (2018), Venus (2022), Lost in the Night (2023), The Wailing (2024), and The Talent (2025).

Life and career

Ester Expósito Gayoso[6] was born on 26 January 2000 in Madrid,[7][8] where she developed an early interest in the performing arts. Following the completion of her formal education at the age of 16, she pursued specialised acting courses, training at the Juan Codina acting workshop.[9] Her theatrical achievements include winning Best Actress at the Madrid Theater Awards in both 2013 and 2015.[10]

Her initial foray into cinema included a minor role in May God Save Us (2016), though she was ultimately removed from the film's final cut.[11] Her television debut came in 2016 with a portrayal of Rosa Martín in an episode of the docudrama series Centro Médico.[12] Later that same year, she appeared as Fernando's daughter in a season two episode of Vis a Vis on Antena 3, later reprising this role in a season three episode released in 2018.

Expósito's first recurring television role was as Ruth in the inaugural season of the TVE series Estoy vivo, which aired in 2017.[13] She subsequently garnered international recognition for her role in the 2018 Netflix teen drama series Élite, portraying Carla Rosón Caleruega until 2020. Following the series' success, she made her cinematic debut with leading roles in the 2018 films When Angels Sleep (as Silvia) and Your Son (as Andrea).[14][11]

In 2019, Expósito appeared in the TVE series La caza. Monteperdido, playing Lucía Castán Grau, one of the disappeared girls. She then starred in the 2020 Netflix limited series Someone Has to Die, portraying Cayetana Aldama, followed by a recurring role in the limited television series Veneno on Atresplayer Premium, where she played Machús Osinaga, a journalist from the talk show Esta noche cruzamos el Mississippi. In December 2020, she appeared as Claudia in the film You Keep the Kids!, directed by Dani de la Orden and starring Paco León and Miren Ibarguren. Expósito briefly reprised her role as Carla in three short story episodes of Élite in 2021.[15]

Her filmography includes the horror film Venus, in which she performed a "very physical" role.[16] In 2024, Expósito signed with the talent management firm Brillstein Entertainment.[17] In 2026, she was honoured with the Golden Nymph Award for Most Promising Talent from the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.[18]

As of March 2026, Expósito is in a relationship with the French footballer Kylian Mbappé.[19]
