The subject is verifiable on the ground. The absence that you feel of accumulated secondary literature is not evidence of illegitimacy, it reflects that independent and community-level knowledge has historically been under-indexed, misinterpreted in formal academic publishing. Requiring pre-existing secondary literature as a precondition for original research is a methodologically circular demand. The submitted work is the primary documentation, that is its contribution, not its shortcoming.
The indirect references in the work are not substitutes for missing citations. They are the scholarly context within which primary findings are situated. This is standard practice in ethnographic and field-based research traditions. Their presence means the broader field is recognized; the submitted work documents the specific subject within it. The work is written with factual accuracy and neutrality throughout. In South Asian community history, almost every claim touching lineage, caste, or origins is contested by someone, that does not make documentation of it inappropriate. The committee is asked to identify specific passages requiring revision. A blanket request without specifying which passages are problematic is not actionable editorial guidance.
The online and academic publishing ecosystem is not neutral. Certain well-resourced communities hold disproportionate influence over what gets indexed, cited, and treated as legitimate. They fund research validating their own narratives, crowd out alternative scholarship by volume, and use institutional authority to lend credibility to advocacy framed as inquiry. The result is a structural trap: independent researchers find the citation landscape sparse not because ground reality is absent, but because dominant ecosystems have not recorded it, and then that engineered absence is used as grounds for rejection. The committee is asked to apply its standards evenhandedly with this asymmetry in view.
This work was produced to document a verifiable ground reality, not to mislead or defame. The researcher has no institutional platform, no community patronage, no publishing infrastructure. What the work has, is accuracy, testable on the ground by any reviewer willing to look.
