Ali Zulfikar Zahedi (Bengali: আলী জুলফিকার জাহেদী; born 1 July 1976) is a Bangladeshi filmmaker, screenwriter, lyricist, and producer.[1][2] He is best known for his feature film Kagoj (2022), which was showcased at several national and international film festivals.[3]
Early life
Zahedi was born on 1 July 1976 in Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Before entering the film industry, he worked in the corporate sector. He later shifted his focus to media and cinema in 2014.[4] In addition to his contributions as a filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter, Zahedi maintains an active career in the corporate sector.[5]
Career
Zahedi began his career with short films and later moved on to feature filmmaking. His 2020 short film The Sound was screened at several international festivals.[6]
In 2022, he directed his debut feature-length film Kagoj (English: The Paper), a drama that explores social and personal struggles. The film was officially selected in multiple international film festivals worldwide.[7]
Apart from directing, Zahedi has also contributed as a lyricist and screenwriter for various projects in Bangladeshi cinema and television.[8]

Personal life
Zahedi is married to Samia Habib, a flight attendant. They have one son, Ali Addrian Zahedi, who has also acted in films.
Memberships
Zahedi is a member of the Bangladesh Film Director Association (BFDC) and the Bangladesh Film Producer and Distribution Association. He is a life member of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) and the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA).[13][14]
Recognition
Kagoj was officially selected and screened at multiple international festivals (Italy, India, and others). His works have been covered in Bangladeshi media, including The Daily Star, New Age, Prothom Alo, and Daily Sun.[15]
