The 2025 Indian Premier League, officially known as IPL 18 and branded as TATA IPL 2025, marks the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This tournament features ten teams competing in a total of 74 matches, scheduled to take place from 22 March to 25 May 2025. The matches will be held across 13 cities in India, with Kolkata set to host both the opening ceremony and the final. The Kolkata Knight Riders enter the tournament as the defending champions. Background The Indian Premier League is a franchise-based Twenty20 cricket league established in India and organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Since its inaugural season in 2008, the IPL has been held annually. The Kolkata Knight Riders are the reigning champions, having secured their third title in the previous season by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final match.
