The Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Pakistan is .pk. The administration of 'pk' domain names is exclusively managed by PKNIC, the sole organisation authorised by the Government of the Islamic republic of Pakistan for this purpose. Established in June 1992, PKNIC operates as a non-profit, non-statutory corporation that is member-based.

Domain in Urdu script[edit]

In 2011, a new top-level domain was introduced for Pakistan, designed for domain names in the local language. The domain, پاکستان., received approval from the ICANN Board on January 7, 2011, to represent Pakistan using the Perso-Arabic script. Subsequently, on 04 February 2011, the IDN ccTLD پاکستان. was assigned to the National Telecommunication Corporation, and the zone was incorporated into the root servers in February 2017.
