The Gangotri Glacier is located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. It's one of the primary sources of the Ganges River, as the Bhagirathi River originates from here. The glacier is approximately 30 km long and 2-4 km wide. You'll see various surrounding mountains like Thalay Sagar, Meru, Shivling, and Bhagirathi II, making this place incredibly beautiful and breathtaking.

The point of origin of the water is called Gaumukh, as it resembles a 'cow's mouth'. You can spot Gaumukh near the base of the Shivling mountain. The glacier has three main tributaries: Rakhtvarn, Chaturangi, and Kirti, along with 18 smaller tributary glaciers.
