Mohammed Faizal Padippura (born 28 May 1975 at Andrott) is an Indian politician and social worker who has been serving as Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Union Territory of Lakshadweep since 2014.[1]

Mohammed Faizal is a popular politician among the people of Lakshadweep. Mohammed Faizal was elected to parliament on a platform of increasing employment, ensuring the livelihoods of fishermen, providing improved healthcare to citizens of Lakshadweep, improving the standards of life of common man and promoting the island's tourist industry.[2] He is also elected as the party whip of NCP for 16th Lok Sabha.

Personal life

Mohammed Faizal was born on 28 May 1975 at Andrott, Lakshadweep to Mr. Pookoya Thangal Kunnamkalam and Mrs. Safiyabi Padippura. He is graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Sir Syed College, Kannur in 1998 and has done post graduation in  Business Administration (MBA) from University of Calicut in 2000. He is married to Rahmath Beegum on 19 September 2002 and the couple hase four children, Fazna Bind Faizal, Ayisha Liyana, Ayisha Naveeda and SM Quthbudheen Bakthiyar.[3]

Career

Mohammed Faizal PP is a social worker and business advisor by profession. He is a Member of Parliament and belongs to the Nationalist Congress Party and he was elected as Member of Parliament in 16th Lok Sabha from Lakshadweep constituency in the year 2014.[4] During the period 2014-2016, he held the positions as member of standing committee on transport, tourism and culture and consultative committee on ministry of home affairs.

On May 2019, he was re-elected as member of parliament in 17th Lok Sabha representing Lakshadweep and held as a member of standing committee on personnel, public grievances, law and justice. Also, a member of consultative committee on ministry of minority affairs on 13 september 2019 onwards.[5]
