In 1531 AD, Mughal Emperor Humayun led a massive army against Maharaj Kirtivarman II Chandel, who had sheltered his vassal of Orcha, Rudra Pratap Singh Bundel. . The months-long siege ended in a fierce battle, with the Chandel Rajputs emerging victorious. Humayun surrendered to Kirtivarman II to save his life.
