The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) is a government organization responsible for conducting various recruitment examinations and selecting candidates for various government posts in the state of Bihar, India. The BSSC conducts a wide range of examinations for different departments and ministries under the Bihar government to fill vacancies in positions such as clerks, stenographers[1], forest guards[2], and other non-gazetted posts.
History
The Bihar Staff Selection Commission was established on 25th February 2014 under the Bihar Staff Selection Commission Act, 2008. The commission was created to streamline the process of recruiting staff for various government jobs in the state.
Since its establishment, the commission has had several chairpersons, each responsible for overseeing its operations and ensuring the transparent and fair conduct of recruitment exams.One of the significant functions of BSSC is the recruitment of school teachers in Bihar. The commission conducts the Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (Bihar TET)[3] for selecting eligible candidates for teaching positions in government schools.
Key Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission
- Conducting recruitment examinations: BSSC conducts written examinations and other selection processes to evaluate the eligibility and qualifications of candidates for various government job vacancies[4].
- Announcing recruitment notifications: The commission releases recruitment notifications, which include details about the job vacancies, eligibility criteria, application procedures, and examination schedules.
- Shortlisting and selecting candidates: BSSC is responsible for shortlisting and selecting candidates based on their performance in the recruitment examinations and other selection criteria.
- Maintaining a merit list: BSSC prepares and publishes a merit list of selected candidates who are eligible for appointment to the respective government posts.[5]
Exam Structure
