Critical receptionEdit
S.R. Praveen's review of 'Vaathil' in The Hindu: says Ramakanth Sarju's thriller "Vaathil" presents intriguing possibilities in the second half but struggles to overcome its initially dull narrative. The film explores the troubled marriage of Tani (Anu Sithara) and Denny (Vinay Forrt), introducing interesting elements that fall short of fully engaging the audience. The background music, reminiscent of mind-numbing television serials, adds to the film's shortcomings. "Vaathil" ultimately misses the opportunity for a more captivating narrative.[3]
K.R. REJEESH's review of 'Vaathil' on NowRunning gives the film 3 out of 5 stars. and cots The film explores the influence of social media on contemporary family life. It revolves around Denny Davidson (Vinay Forrt) and his deteriorating relationship with his wife Thani (Anu Sithara) due to their smartphone obsession. The first half may seem uneventful, but the narrative tightens as Denny becomes a social media addict influenced by his friend Kapeesh (Krishna Shankar). Despite some illogical elements in the climax, Vinay Forrt delivers an effective performance. The film's cinematography, music, and pacing under Ramakanth Sarju's direction make it an engaging exploration of social media's impact on family life.[6]
