Diesel Loco Shed, Itarsi is an engine shed located in Itarsi, Madhya Pradesh in India. Diesel Loco Shed, Itarsi does regular maintenance of Diesel locomotives in Indian Railways. It is now rated as one of the most premier shed of the Indian Railways. It is one of the two Diesel loco sheds in the West Central Railway zone followed by the Diesel Loco Shed, Katni. It falls under the Bhopal railway division of the West Central Railway zone.[1][2][3]
History
As one of the oldest Diesel Loco Shed, It was opened in the year 1964 with a total no. Of 40 locos.[4]
Operations
This was the main Diesel Loco Shed that served Diesel Locomotives to the unelectrified Itarsi- Allahabad section. After the electrification of this section it is now servicing Diesel Locomotives to CRS inspections and many unelectrified and remote areas of the country.[5] Two Effluent Treatment plant and Incinerator are also available. It also has canteen facility for the staff members.
