Chandramukhi (Mahabharata)

Chandramukhi or Cāndramukhi (Sanskrit:चंद्रमुखी)(lit. the person having moon looks) is the princess of Trigarta Kingdom and the wife of Dushasana. She is also considered as the mother of Drumasena. She is the daughter of King Ashwinraja and Queen Suchitra. In the Stri Parva, she loses her husband and son both. In that parva, Gandhari is mentioned as Dushasana's wife. Shanti Parva mentions how Dushasana did the act of Duryodhana, his elder brother kidnapping two princesses Bhanumati and Mayuri. After the death of her husband, her son Drumasena takes revenge of his father's death.

Abduction and marriage

Incident like Duryodhana, all the Kauravas have kidnapped princess to make their wife, like Duryodhana kidnapped four princesses, Charuchitra kidnapped one princess, Dussaha kidnapped two princesses etc.

Description in Mahabharata or mentions

She is described by her mother-in-law Gandhari to Krishna, about being a beautiful princess how she believed Dushasana, her husband, he promised Chandramukhi that he'll take good care of her. Maids were kept to look after Dushasana's wife.

Therefore, the marriage of Dushasana and Chandramukhi echoes the marriage of Duryodhana,Mayuri and Bhanumati. Gandhari says to Krishna,

Behold, the wife of Dushasana,the mother of Drumasena and Bharata, the woman who sorrows for her husband and her two sons, the daughter of King Ashwinraja and Queen Suchitra Devi,the cousin of Bhanumati, her sorrows were only a divine love for Dushasana, her husband
