Professor Prem raj Pushpakaran (പ്രൊഫസർ പ്രേം രാജ് പുഷ്പാകരന്) is an Indian indomitable doyen, galahad, life scientist, genetic engineer, visionary, environmentalist, economist, and presently working as a Teaching Professor of Biotechnology at National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), Kozhikode district, Kerala, India.[4] His field of expertise is Physiology.
Biography
Professor Prem raj Pushpakaran received a BSc in Zoology from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala in 1995, an MSc in Biotechnology from Cochin University of Science and Technology in 1997,[5] and a PhD in Biotechnology from Central Drug Research Institute in 2002[6] prior to post-doctoral studies at Harvard Medical School from 2003 to 2005.[7] Chulluthura Padmaja is his mother.
Awards and Honors
As a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University, Professor Prem raj Pushpakaran, co-authored thirteen papers on topics related to gene regulation, gut physiology and biophysics.[7] Following his post-doctoral work at Harvard, Prof. Prem raj P served as an assistant professor of Bio-Technology and Microbiology at King Saud University, KSA, for 3 years (2005-2008), thereafter returned to India to join as the faculty of the NITC.[4] In addition to his work at NITC, Prof. Prem raj P is active within the academic research community, including serving as an associate editor for Journal of Investigative Genomics (JIG),[8] and as a Faculty Advisor of the Scitable Project, an online collaborative science education project of the Springer Nature Publishing Group.[9]
