Pirzada Abbas Siddiqui is an Indian cleric and the head of Muslim shrine Furfura Sharif.[1] Siddiqui is the founder of Furfura Sharif Ahale Sunnatul Jamat and formed Indian Secular Front in 21 January 2021.[2] [3] He is the scion of the Siddiqui family, which is the custodian of the famous Furfura Sharif shrine.[4]

Controversies

Siddiqui's video has been cropped and edited by BJP it cell which is criticized for spreading misinformation and making controversial comments. It has been infamous for its incendiary rhetoric, fear-mongering. It edited a video of Abbas siddiqui where he can be seen calling for 'divine intervention' for the death of 50 crore Indians. shotguns recovered from ISF worker's house in West Bengal.In another video he was seen addressing a large gathering of followers and praying to Allah to kill 50 crore Indians with the virus.Later it was proved that the video was also fake and edited.

On February 26, 2020, a video of Siddique had gone viral on social media in which he was heard referring to anti-musilm Delhi pogrom and saying:

Recently I have got the news that mosques are being set on fire, mosques are being burnt for the last two days. I think something is going to happen within a month. May Allah accept our prayers. May Allah send such a terrible virus to India that ten to twenty to fifty crore people die in India. Am I saying something wrong? It is absolutely blissful.

This video was also proved as a fake one and taken out of context. He also said that he did not mind whether he would die or survive but he would surely take Hindus with him. However,later it was proved that he was quoted 'out of context'. The Secularist ally of Congress, Left in West Bengal.

In 2019, after the Indian government passed the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Siddiqui opposed it as the citizenship law was unfair to the Muslim population of the country and threatened to block Kolkata airport if the law was not revoked. He urged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to either move the Supreme Court or bring a resolution against CAA in State Assembly or else risk losing the support of Muslims in West Bengal.[5]

In February 2020, he claimed that the actor-turned politician Nusrat Jahan, earn money by showing body and called her "Shameless" for fooling hindus visiting temples at election and pleasing radical Hindu extremists though she doesn't believe in Hindu Gods.[6]
