Angad Vir Singh Bajwa (born 29 November 1995) is an Indian sport shooter who competes in the skeet discipline. He holds the Skeet Finals World Record of 60 out of 60.

Career

At the 2015 Asian Shooting Championships in Kuwait City, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa won the Gold medal in the Men's Skeet Junior Individual Event by shooting 121/125 and set the new Asian Junior Record. Angad Bajwa also won Gold in the Men's Junior Skeet - Team event along with team mates Anant Naruka and Arjun Mann.[2]

Bajwa participated in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta where he shot 119 out of 125 and failed to qualify for the final.[3] He won the Gold medal at the 2018 Asian Shotgun Championships in Kuwait City by shooting a World Record of 60/60 in the final round of the Men's Skeet competition. This was India's first ever Gold Medal in the skeet discipline in a continental or world-level tournament.[4][5]

Making a comeback after an illness, Bajwa won the Bronze Medal at the 2019 Summer Universiade in Naples.[6] At the 2019 Asian Shooting Championships, he again won Gold in the men's Skeet event second time in a row after a shoot-off with fellow Indian Mairaj Ahmad Khan, who settled for silver. As a result of this, both Bajwa and Khan bagged 2020 Summer Olympics Quota places for India.[7] Bajwa also won Silver in the mixed team event, in the same competition.[8]

Coming back from the long period of the pandemic with no competition in 2020, the 1st World Cup at Cairo,Egypt took place in February 2021, this was the 1st competition and he won a Bronze medal in the Skeet Team event.

Following up after this came the World Cup at New Delhi in March,2021, Angad and his team again won, this time a Gold medal in the Skeet Team event by beating the team of Qatar, by a 6 - 2 lead. The team from Qatar had stood 1st in the qualification rounds. A day later he kept up his pace and won his 2nd Gold medal in a row in the Mixed Team event at the World Cup at New Delhi by beating the team from Kazakhstan by score of 33 - 29.

At the 2021 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi Angad Vir Singh Bajwa won the Gold medal in Men's Skeet Team Event with team mates Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Gurjoat Siingh Khangura.[9]

Personal life

As of 2020, Bajwa completed his BBA from the Manav Rachna University.[10] He studied in Sherwood College and then moved to Canada for some time to pursue his Graduation from UBC in Vancouver but then returned to India to represent India from 2015 to date. His father Gurpal Singh Bajwa is in business in Canada.[11][12]
