B. K. N. Chhibber was born on 10 February 1936 as Bakshi Krishan Nath Chhibber in present day Pakistan. His family migrated to India in 1947 post [[Partition of India|the partition]]. He was married to Rama Chhibber who died in January 2018 at the age of 78.
