Aggabai Sasubai (translation: Oh Mine Mother-In-Law) is an Indian Marathi-language television show that aired on Zee Marathi from 22 July 2019 to 13 March 2021 in 432 episodes altogether. Directed by Ajay Mayekar and Jayant Pawar, produced by Sunil Bhosle under the production banner of Someel Creations and distributed by Zee Entertainment Enterprises, the show stars an ensemble cast of Girish Oak, Nivedita Joshi Saraf, Ashutosh Patki, Tejashree Pradhan, Ravi Patwardhan, Mohan Joshi, Bhakti Ratnaparkhi and Sanjeevani Sathe and is currently available online on ZEE5.

Synopsis

Aggabai Sasubai is the story of Asavari Kulkarni (Nivedita Joshi Saraf), an honest, loving and caring widow, who selflessly takes care of her family and faces all life issues with peace. Her husband has passed away a couple of decades ago and therefore, she raised her son Soham (Ashutosh Patki) as a single parent and has also taken care of her elderly authoritative father-in-law Aajoba (Ravi Patwardhan). However, Asavari always pays less attention to herself while loving everyone else. After the marriage of Soham, the show focuses on how Asavari's daughter-in-law Shubhra (Tejashree Pradhan), who shares a deep bond with her mother-in-law, strives to bring a little joy in Asavari's life and decides to get her remarried with her own favourite chef Abhijeet Raje (Girish Oak).

Production

Casting

The show starred Girish Oak, Nivedita Saraf, Tejashree Pradhan, Ashutosh Patki and Ravi Patwardhan. In January 2021, Mohan Joshi replaced Ravi Patwardhan due to the latter's demise in December 2020.[1][2]

Filming

The series is mainly filmed at Thane. Abhi's Kitchen is located at Ghodbunder Road, Thane. Some of the series outdoor shoots were done near Thane Noble Pharma, Thane.[3] The wedding track of Abhijeet and Asavari was shot in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Abhijeet and Asavari's honeymoon scene was shot in Jaipur, Rajasthan.[4]

Spin-off

Due to the success of Aggabai Sasubai, the makers replaced it with the spin-off of the series titled Aggabai Sunbai. The promo of the show was launched on 21 February 2021 and replaced the parent show from 15 March 2021 at same time. Nivedita Saraf, Girish Oak and Mohan Joshi reprised their respective roles as Asavari, Abhijeet Raje and Aajoba while Uma Pendharkar has replaced Tejashree Pradhan as Shubhra and Adwait Dadarkar replaced Ashutosh Patki as Soham Kulkarni.[5]
