Mahasweta Ray (also spelled "Mahashweta Roy", born 2 July 1962) is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Odia films.Father Shri Rajkishor Ray is well known famous writer. Ms Malavika Ray and Mansweeni Ray are elders sisters . Ms Malavika Ray also was an actress .In Tarang lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony, she was seen overwhelmed to see her past achievement, recalling those memorable days, tears of extreme happiness never found stopping to roll down from the eyes of legendary actress. Not only she but people of her age group or nearer to her,are trilled to see her movies. After her entry into ollywood in 1976 in Shesha Shravan, she went on performing for more than 44 years in numerous successful movies of eighties, nineties and still she is active. Her chemistry with famous actors Vijay Mohanty and Prasant Nanda was best. Really that was the unforgettable era when the Odia movies had melodious songs, music, acting, stories, dialogues, teaching for people and society. Really the actors and actress were respectable and will remain in heart for ever.in Eighties, Maa mamata, Swapna sagar, Dora, Gauri, etc. lot many such movies, unforgettable. She has won awards for her performances in many movies.[1] She is actively associated with the Oriya film industry, doing some character roles and some tele-serials.[2][3][4]

Early life

Ray was born in Puri, Odisha and studied at SCS College.

Career

Ray's first movie was "Sesa Shrabana" with Prashanta Nanda and Hemanta Das. She has been a leading actress in Odia film industry as well as in the Bengali film industry. She also did a Telugu movie. Ray has often been critically acclaimed as one of the best Odia actresses so far.
