Farooque Latif Khan is an Indian sarangi player.[1][2] He was awarded the "SUR MANI" award at the Swami Haridas Sammelan, Mumbai in 1998 and currently working as a staff artist at the A.I.R. Indore.
Early life
He was born in 1975 into a family of musicians, Farooque began learning Sarangi from his father Abdul Latif Khan at the age of twelve.
Career
Farooque Latif Khan started his career at a very young age. His solo debut was at the South Central Zone Cultural Center (SCZCC) Jalgaon in 1993. He then performed at the South Central Zone Cultural Center (SCZCC) Bangalore in 1994, the Sursinger Sansad’s "Kal Ke Kalakar" in Mumbai (1997), the Sansakar Bharti, Bhopal (1996), the Uttradhikar, Bhopal (1998), the Raja Chatrapati Sangeet Samaroh, Jhansi (1998), Tansen Samaroh, Gwalior (1999) and at Ustad Allauddin Khan Samaroh, Maihar (2000). He also performed at the prestigious Pandit Omkarnath Thakur Music Festival organised by Sangeet Natak Academy – Jamnagar (2000), SAPTHAK Samaroh, Ahmedabad (2001), Ustad Amir Khan Samaroh, Indore (2002), Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav (2012)[3] and Concert For Harmony (2018).[4]
He also performed at "The Sarangi Mela" an event organized by Sabir Khan, commemorate his father Sultan Khan's 5th death anniversary in November 2016.[5] In 2019, He performed at the 29th Pt. Durgalal Festival, hosted by Sam Ved Society for Performing Arts, at the Sangit Mahabharti, Juhu along with Pt. Akhilesh Gundecha and his two disciples Dnyaneshwar Deshmukh and Anuja Borude on Pakhawaj. They presented a rarely performed Taal Lakshmi, the cycle of 18 beats.[6]
