This can be attributed to his inexperience along the matters related to China and PLA as he never served along the Chinese frontier. The situation in Ladakh saw a massive mobilization of troops and equipment on both sides and loss of lives not only in violent clashes but also due to weather and terrain related ailments to which troops suddenly inducting from plains were subjected to without presence of any viable infrastructure in Ladakh.
