| The Army Public School was attacked by [[Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan|Tehrik-i-Taliban]] terrorists on 16 December 2014. The ensuing massacre inside the school killing 149 students, including approximately 132 student, and teachers {{citation needed|date=June 2020}}

| Following the attack, Pakistani officials announced that the students killed in the school attack will serve as the namesake of more than 120 government schools across the capital city of [[Islamabad]]. The attack intensified the [[Insurgency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa|War in North-West Pakistan]] as the [[Pakistan Armed Forces|Pakistani military]] continued its [[counter-insurgency]] operations against militants operating in the region.
