Gautam Bhadra (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.) (Born: 1948) is a historian of South Asia and was a member of the erstwhile Subaltern Studies collective.[1]He favoured bringing to light the lower sections of the Indian people till recently neglected by writing of history.

Bhadra was born in Kolkata in 1948. His original home is Uthali village in Satkhira district of Bangladesh. obtained education at Chetla Boys School, Presidency College (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.), thereafter from Jadavpur University and Jawaharlal Nehru University (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.).[2] He started teaching at the Department of History, University of Calcutta (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.) and continued there for more than 15 years.
