Rony was born on 7th of April 1967 at Shyampur village, Upozila - Sadarpur, Zilla - Faridpur. His mother name is Monowara Begum and Father is Samsuddin Munshi. His Father was a renowned businessman and doing his business in the Patuakhali district since 1964. Later on he moved his family the to Ulania Bandar, Galachipa Upozila,  Patuakhali.

In the 9th national parliamentary election, Rony was elected to be the MP from 113  Patuakhali-3 constituency and got the highest vote in the south belt of Bangladesh. He is outspoken and sometimes criticized his own party and government even. He is a popular political face in the electronic, print, and social media in Bangladesh. He is well known political analyst , popular writer, and influential columnist in the country. Due to his own ideology and respect to multiparty election, he did not asked nomination from Awamileague and rejected 10 parliamentary elections along with other political parties. Later on, he joined the Bangladesh Nationalist party BNP prior to 11th parliamentary election and secured party nomination for 113 Patuakhali 3 constituencies.

Golam Maula Rony (born c. 1967) is a Bangladeshi politician and businessman. He is a former Jatiya Sangsad member for the Patuakhali-3 constituency representing Bangladesh Awami League. He joined Bangladesh Nationalist Party in November 2018.[1]

Early life[edit | edit source]

Golam Maula was born in 1967[2] to Monowara Begum and Samsuddin Munshi (d. 2010)[3] in Sadarpur Thana of Faridpur District. He was the eldest of Samsuddin Munshi's seven sons. In 1974, Samsuddin Munshi, to expand his business, moved his family to Ulania in Patuakhali District.[4]

In the 9th national parliamentary election Rony was elected to be the MP of Patuakhali-3.[2] In the tenth national parliamentary election of Bangladesh Rony did not do election (Awami League) for Patuakhali-3, because of embarrassing the government by making anti Awami League statement in a TV show.[7]

Rony ran for mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation in April 2015, but couldn’t win the election.[8]

Golam Maula Rony is married to Kamrun Nahar Runu, his childhood sweetheart. The couple have two sons and one daughter.[3]
