The "Kangla" (Old Manipuri: ꯀꯪꯂꯥ, romanized: kang-laa, lit. 'dry land') was the earliest known fortified capital city of Ancient Manipur.[1] It served as the seat of administration of the rulers of many dynasties, right from the reign of Emperor "Tangja Leela Pakhangba" in 1445 BC (15th century BC).[2]
