Shashirekha (Sanskrit: शशिरेखा, lAST:Shashirekhā) was a princess of the Brihadratha dynasty, who was namely given the titles Brihadrathakanya and sometimes Brihadrathaputri (meaning Brihadratha's daughter) and was a daughter of King Brihadratha of the Brihadratha dynasty and the sister of Jarasandha.
Shashirekha was the daughter of one of the Kashi princesses, but fortunately her brother was born from half from each princess and joined by a rakshasi. Princess Shashirekha accompanied her father while serving other princes. Jarasandha, supported the Kauravas and thought to marry his sister, but fortunately she rejected the proposal with the Kauravas, nor she accepted Kichaka.

Jarasandha used to get furious as Shashirekha did not wanted to marry Kichaka, the commander of the Matsya Kingdom. The fair lady, Shashirekha was scared after her birth means she was scared to have a cruel brother who wanted his sister to accept which prince he chooses. Her fair complexion gave rise to the purohits who saw her and gave this message to Emperor Duryodhana. Duryodhana wanted Shashirekha as his wife but without thinking Jarasandha brings him to the dynasty of Brihadratha. There, his father, his two mothers and Princess Shashirekha was sitting there. The four got up after seeing Duryodhana, Dushasana and Karna. Shashirekha knew about Duryodhana and went away. Jarasandha angrily questioned her but she told him that she already knew about him (Duryodhana) and rejected the marriage. Jarasandha warned if her, if she will reject, he will have to do a force marriage of Shashirekha and Duryodhana. Scared, Shashirekha did not tell Jarasandha that she loved Dhrishtadyumna and so she writes a description about how her brother torches her. Dhrishtadyumna, feeling bad for her, told the charioteer to take him to the Kingdom of Brihadratha. He reaches Brihadratha, abducted Shashirekha and took her to Panchal.
