Indumati is the wife of Vikarna, the brother of Duryodhana. She and Vikarna had a daughter named Durga, when Durga grew up she was married to Karna's son Satyasena.

She is depicted in a puppet form just like a wood puppet. Wayang is mostly made from wood and carved into a puppet like - structure. Indumati is depicted like that. The Kauravas are also mentioned in Wayangs.

Durga's Swayamvara

It was the time when Vikarna held the Swayamvara of his 10 daughters, he invited handsome princes including Karna' sons. The beautiful daughters came coming with a beautiful garland in their hands made the sons of Vikarna and Duryodhana mesmerize. When they came to them (Daughters of Vikarna), the sons of Vikarna and Duryodhana kidnapped them.


Description in Mahabharata

She was mentioned by her mother-in-law Gandhari to Krishna. Thus, she was married to the third Kaurava Vikarna.

Indumati wanted to marry Sahadeva, but as per her father's wish, she married Vikarna. Some stories say that Vikarna loved her immensely.Vikarna also married her elder sister Sudeshnavati. Indumati gave birth to a ten daughters including Durga, Sudeshnavati bore one daughter who was named Jyotsyana. Main Durga and Jyotsyana were the apple of the eye of their father Vikarna.

Their daughter Durga was married to Karna's son Satyasena.
