Anukul Charan Munshi or simply Anukul Munshi was an Indian artist who was born to Banwari Charan Munshi, one of the estate holders of Chowgachhi zamindar family (now in Bangladesh). Munshi was the Father of artist Annada Munshi and artist Manu Munshi.

The Mother of Pearl artistry in India

Munshi is considered to introduce the Mother of Pearl artistry in India with a new format by many critics. Still before him, the artistry was predominant, but he applied it differently to carve portraits or sculptures which was totally new in the field of Indian fine arts.

Honours

1. Received gold medal from British Raj for his exhibition based on Mother of Pearl artistry.

2. Received accommodation to permanently live in Rome as a honour from the then Government of Italy.[1]
