She is married to Ravindra Hebbalkar and lives in Hanuman Nagar, Belagavi. Has one son Mirnal Hebbalkar.

She was the party's losing candidate from [[Belgaum Rural (Vidhan Sabha constituency)|Belgavi (Rural)]] Vidhan Sabha seat in 2013, and then from [[Belagavi (Lok Sabha constituency)|Belagavi]] Lok Sabha seat in 2014 elections. She is a feminist, and works to improve the standard of living of the people in the Belgaum constituency. She is currently serving as MLA from Belgavi (Rural) in Karnataka Legislative Assembly. She has a Rivalry with Ramesh Jarkiholi and her backing by DK Shivakumar caused Jarkiholi to Lead Rebel MLAs who took down Kumaraswamy Govt.
