Raveendran made his debut in the [[Tamil language|Tamil]] mega hit ''[[Oru Thalai Ragam]]'' and later played the second lead in [[Kamal Hassan]] and [[Rajnikanth]] movies like ''[[Sagalakala Vallavan]], [[Per Sollum Pillai]], [[Ram Lakshman]], Ranga, Thankamagan and [[Pokkiri Raja (1982 film)|Pokkiri Raja]]''. Often cited as ''Disco Raveendran''<ref name=Disco/> for his dance movements, he concentrated more in Malayalam with I.V.Sasi movies like Aswaratham, Ee Nadu, John Jaffer Janardhan, Innalengil Nale, Sindhoora Sandhyakku Mounam, Iniyengilum, Athiratram, Idanilangal, Karimbinpoovinakkare, Rangam, Abhayam Thedi and was a part of numerous hit films until he decided to quit movies.
