Tahqiqaat (transl. Investigation) is a 1993 Indian Hindi-language thriller film, produced by K.C. Bokadia under the BMB Productions banner and directed by A. Jagannathan. It stars Jeetendra (last movie in double role), Aditya Pancholi, Sangeeta Bijlani, Ronit Roy and Farheen and music composed by Anu Malik. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film Post Mortem (1982).[1] It was only one Hindi film directed by A. Jagannathan.
Plot[edit]
Prem and Arum Kumar are twins born into a middleclass family. When they get older, Prem moves to a smaller village where he becomes a celibate catholic priest, while Arum becomes a police officer. Years go by and both brothers advance their careers, Prem becomes well-respected in the village, while Arum becomes the superintendent of the police. until Prem contacts Arum regarding the supposed suicide of a young woman named Mary. Prem requests that Arum unearth the body of Mary to perform an autopsy. Arum suspends the police officer who buried Mary since he did not follow procedure and uncovers Mary's coffin, only to find out that Prem's body is in the coffin while Mary's corpse is missing. This makes Arum initiate an investigation (Tahqiqaat) to figure out why is brother is dead and to find the whereabouts of Mary's corpse. The investigation is made difficult by the deceiving villagers, but eventually Arum uncovers the truth. Prem seems to have been living a double life in which he was responsible for Mary's pregnancy which led to her suicide.
