Mahara (Mara,Mahra, also Mehra,Phartiyal/Fartiyal are same surnames) are usually found in Uttarakhand Kumaon Region of India and far western region of Nepal. They belong to Kshatriya/Rajput community. However, Mehra are also considered schedule cast in certain parts in India.
