"Sagol Kangjei" (Meitei: ꯁꯒꯣꯜ ꯀꯥꯡꯖꯩ, romanized: sa-gol kaang-jei, Old Manipuri: ꯁꯀꯣꯜ ꯀꯥꯡꯆꯩ, romanized: sa-kol kaang-chei, lit. 'horse-hockey') is a ancient traditional form of the modern polo,[1][2][3] which was played in Ancient Manipur since 3100 BC till present.[4][5][6][7] It was reproduced into a formal sports form by King Kangba, of Ancient Manipur.[8] Manipuri horses are notably used in the game.[9][10][11][12][13]
