Basra was born on 27 July 1967 in [[Amravati]], [[Maharashtra]], India.
 
In 1989, he moved to [[Mumbai]] and attended [[Mumbai University]], and acted in college productions. He regularly won prizes for the characters he played in college time. Asif Basra (27 July 1967 – 12 November 2020) was an Indian actor.[1] He was best known for his role as Puro in the American comedy movie Outsourced (2006).[2] He was born in Amravati, Maharashtra. His career began in 1998.

Basra hung himself on 12 November 2020 at his home in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh at the age of 53.[3][4]
