Integrated aerospace development program
Engineering institutes in the state have collaborated for the promotion of aviation and aerospace engineering. Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, through a memorandum of understanding with FGIET, is the mentor of the program. The program is run in collaboration with Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, where the students may opt for industrial training. Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University is the central government's premier focus for aviation research.
As a part of their curriculum, students must undertake a bachelor project (undergraduate thesis) in their final year. Common destinations for graduates include NTPC Limited, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, railway companies, etc.
The aeronautical graduates usually take the pathway to higher education via the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering to secure admission in the Indian Institutes of Technology or the Indian Institute of Science, mostly due to a lack of opportunities in core aerospace in the region.
Hostels
The institute has hostel facilities for boys and girls. Each hostel has its own mess, operated by an elected student representative. Each hostel is provided with a water purifier, water cooler and kit for indoor games and outdoor games (basketball court, tennis court and football ground). The name of the boys' hostel is Rajiv Gandhi Boys Hostel (RGBH), and the name of the girls' hostel is Priyadarshini Girls Hostel.
