Lt. Col. Arun Bhimrao Harolikar was awarded the 3rd most superior Gallantry Award of India, Maha Vir Chakra. This was given to him on the Indian Independence Day of the year, 1972. His domicile is located in Pune. Unit, 5 GR. Rank at time of Award was LT COL. Service Number was IC-7916.

He was given this award for his gallantry, "leadership and devotion to duty of a very high order".
