HistoryEdit

Founded in 2008, the Institute is governed by a board of directors and operates across multiple sectors, including education, health, disaster risk reduction, governance, conflict, and stabilization. I-SAPS originated from the Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan, which focused on advocating for consumer rights.

Since its establishment, I-SAPS has been dedicated to enhancing access to quality education and ensuring children's rights to free and compulsory education in Pakistan. In this context, I-SAPS began reporting on education budgets in Pakistan starting in the 2007-08 fiscal year. Each year, the Institute publishes an annual report on the state of education financing, analyzing trends in education spending at federal, provincial, and district levels. The most recent report in this series evaluated education budgets from 2010-11 to 2015-16. Moreover, I-SAPS has played a significant role in facilitating the formation of Pakistan's National Caucus on Education, aimed at integrating the political and technical aspects of education reforms within the country. Through these initiatives, I-SAPS strives to influence policy and drive improvements in the educational landscape of Pakistan.
